Hans gave his name to the famous Lauper route over the north-eastern face of the Eiger in 1932, which was one of the last major first ascents in classical style - over one of the most dangerous rock faces in the Alps. Hans was a true aesthete. He did not care for technical high performance climbing but aimed to explore elegant routes, which he climbed without artificial aids. This is a shirt that says here's to a real one, the last of an era - Swiss style, of course.
